Our Lord laid not his life down for his doctrine, but for his sheep.

Should i just get up and move out to africa?
--------------------------------------------------------
I was astonished and truly awakened by a recent chapel assembly just this past week.

It was a smaller crowd and we broke up into groups. Whatever, i wasnt really feelin it. i was freakin tired.

We read an essay by this guy Tony Campollo. He was adressing the skewed line of distinction between the Biblical Jesus and the Cultural Jesus.

His point was that the majority of christians would like to say they follow the biblical jesus, but in fact follow the cultural version.

I agreed. But had heard it before. no big deal

Until we broke up into "small groups" and just started discussing Tony's thoughts and views...agree or disagree

A generally pretty, smart, talkative, and popular girl spoke up. She agreed with the idea that we should live more like Jesus. But more specifically disagreed with what that involves...that as christians we are not to be the kind of people and models for Christ when we're to busy buying the new, biger, badder BMW, the Big houses, 3 car garage, plasma, and whatever else that comes along with the affluent lifestlyle. I think we're very well aquanted with this kind of living.

She didnt get it. She didnt realize that, YES, we should not partake in these things nor aspire for them. We are called to a radically different lifestyle. what about that equates to the trinkets or toys listed above. "Store up for yourself treasures in heaven,"(Jesus) the crap we care so dearly about here and now on earth isnt even gunna last...whats the sense...but its hard isnt it?

We need a life that, when completed, was worthy. I dont see the sense in it. To live in this greedy and blurred society we know today. To just take it day by day and follow the Cultural Jesus we have so frequently sculpted in our own convienent images. wow, we sure got that twisted around...

I dont want to be here. We live in a modern Matrix. Where the creaters were not just from the secular society, but the culturally adapt christians that have been following a shapeless and constantly changing Jesus.

We need to be reborn into the real world. Into the world Jesus knew and saw. We need to live as Jesus would.

Without that constant...we will have gone unrecognized and been semi-christians once we have left.

This is not guilt nor shame. It is the calling for all Christians and Non-Christians to seek the Biblical Jesus and his role for us in this mystically challenging battle field we call life.

Is it Africa? Who knows. But it should never leave our prayers.

Listen to Bono. He's got the right idea...

If you havnt seen The New World . . . well you just need to.

It will surpass any expectations or previous thoughts you've had about this movie.

It was unlike any other movie i have ever seen. Ground-breaking in so many ways.

amazing cinematography, extremely artisitc, great acting, enlightening, educational, great story, beautiful music.

there was nothing Hollywood about this movie. which may explain why it "didnt do so well"

It may not have done well at the box office, but i enjoyed it anyway.

It's funny this is finally the one thing i could actually find interesting enough to post about on here.

I have to work on that haha.
